Deaf Aotearoa is the national service provider for Deaf people in New Zealand. We work with Deaf communities providing information and resources on a range of services.
The organisation works closely with government agencies, other not-for-profit organisations and the corporate sector to increase awareness of Deaf people’s lives, promote New Zealand Sign Language and strengthen the rights of Deaf people.
Deaf Aotearoa is a Disabled Person’s Organisation and the New Zealand representative for the World Federation of the Deaf, the international body for Deaf people.
Deaf Aotearoa has 13 offices nationwide and its services include Community Relations Officers, Service Coordinators (identify and coordinate services to meet Deaf people’s specific needs), and Employment Consultants.
The organisation runs targeted Deaf Awareness courses for businesses/organisations to improve communication and access for Deaf people throughout New Zealand, and the Deaf Youth Leadership programme "Magnet".
Deaf Aotearoa relies on the generosity of charitable organisations and people to continue offering its vital community-based services which are free of charge to the community. Booking your hotel, motel or any other accommodation via Kiwi Karma ensures Deaf Aotearoa can continue to make a positive difference.
